Cynthia studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Instituto Allende in Mexico, earning a BFA degree with a major in painting. For 20 years she freelanced, doing a wide range of commercial projects while developing her personal style of painting. During this time, she lived in the Caribbean: Key West, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and St. Croix. A pivotal year was 1993, when she learned a technique of painting that had a transformative effect on her work. She studied with Robert Venosa and Phil Rubinov-Jacobson in Boulder, Colorado. Later, Cynthia continued advancing in this special technique, studying with the masters in Europe. After several years, Robbins began to assist in teaching at Jacobson’s annual painting workshop in Austria. This evolved into her own class, called the ‘Underpainting Intensive’. She also taught “Visionary Painting” at the Eureka Springs School of the Arts. She and Jacobson held a 3 week painting seminar in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Cynthia’s artwork has been published in books, magazines and CD covers. Her paintings are in private collections worldwide. She is a member of the Society for Art of the Imagination, based in London, England. Locally, she is a member of the Art Guild of the Purple Isles. Cynthia lives in Tavernier, Upper Florida Keys, surrounded by a native hammock forest, full of wildlife. In her words: “I am blessed to be surrounded by beauty. I am enchanted by the sea, birds, animals, lifestyles, and foliage of the region. I am able to share my delight and wonder with others through my paintings. Doing so lifts my spirit and gives me energy. I hope it does the same for the viewer.”
